Dhanmondi Lake and Rabindra Sarobar
Dhanmondi Lake is a lake located in the Dhanmondi residential area in Dhaka. The lake was originally a dead channel of the Karwan Bazar River, and was connected to the Turag River. In 1956, Dhanmondi was developed as a residential area. In the development plan, about 16% of the total area of Dhanmondi was designated for the lake. The lake has become a well visited tourist spot. Many people visit this place everyday to refresh themselves. There is another place adjacent to the lake named ‘Rabindra Sarobar’ which is quite popular among youths and has got its popularity as a cultural hub. So many cultural functions and other festivals are arranged in this place when city dwellers flock to this place.
Bailey Road
Bailey road is a well-known thoroughfare in Dhaka. It is a classic road in Dhaka. It runs through Shantinagar, connecting the Kakrail-Ramna road with the Siddheshwari junction. It is generally regarded as one of the classier areas of the city. The bailey road is considered as two distinct roads, one after another, they are the new baily road and the Baily road.
The new Baily road is well recognised for its famous theatres, numerous boutiques, shops, schools, fast foods, restaurants and various hangout places. The other Baily road is reputable because of the officers club, Foreign Service academy and homes of ministers, officers and government officials. Bailey Road was featured in a song of the same name by Ayub Bachchu, lead singer of the popular rock band LRB. Bailey Road was officially renamed Natok Soroni (Theater Street), in recognition of the road’s contributions to performing arts in the capital.
TSC
The Teacher-Student Centre, widely known as TSC, of the University of Dhaka is a building on the Dhaka University campus in Shahbagh, Dhaka. This place seeks to foster campus community life to supplement the formal academic program of the university. Campus organizations hold their meetings, functions, lectures, and arts exhibitions in the building. Discussion sessions are frequently scheduled, journals and bulletins published, and competitions held, giving the university a varied programme of cultural and social events.
Moreover this place has turned into a place of mass gatherings. Along with university students cross sections of people also visit this place as a part of get-together or simply to pass spare time.
Hatirjheel
Hatirjheel is a lakefront in Dhaka that has been transformed into a transportation medium for minimizing traffic congestion. The area was constructed under Bangladesh Army and the Special Works Organization (SWO). It is now a popular recreational spot for residents of Dhaka and is currently undergoing renovation. Hatirjheel has turned into one of the favorite recreational places in Dhaka for the city dwellers.
Numerous tourists and pedestrians visit the site every evening to enjoy the reflection of light and the fresh air. In the afternoon people, especially couples, visit Hatirjheel for recreational purposes. As congested buildings permeate most of Dhaka, leaving few open places for people to feel the fresh air, Hatirjheel attracts the city dwellers with its beauty.
Khilgaon
Surprisingly the main street of Khilgaon (Chowdhury Para road) has undergone a huge makeover in the last few years. Once deserted this place has now turned into one of the major hubs of restaurants. Youths from surrounding areas and even distant areas regularly gather here to satiate their taste buds as so many exquisite restaurants have been set up in this area. Most importantly most of those restaurants serve sumptuous dishes and so, you will see a rush of foodies in all the places there.
