Ways to spend Eid during pandemic

This Eid is different from other ones. While other times we used to roam around after wrapping up all the works related to meat processing and distribution, this time it’s better to stay within the four walls of your homes. Considering the situation it will be nice to try new ways to make your Eid more meaningful. Below are some unique Eid-ul-Azha ideas to try out this year with family, friends or both.

Plan in advance

Call a family meeting and plan what you want to do during Eid holidays. Invite others over one day, then visit others on the next day following health guidelines? Or vice-versa? Discuss ideas with the family, including all of the kids. Also, talk about the menu and share cooking responsibilities instead of putting the whole workload on mothers.

Attend Eid prayers

It will really feel like Eid if you attend the prayers. Be part of not just the congregation but the Dua (supplications) following the prayer. But do not forget to maintain social distance and refrain from hugging each other at the end of the Eid prayer.

Cook for your family

This time you probably cannot roam around too much. So, it’s better if you rather invest more time in cooking food for your near and dear ones. Prepare all the tasty dishes that your family long to have and make them happy this way.

Arrange a gift exchange with friends

The Prophet (pbuh) said, “Exchange presents with one another, for they remove ill feelings from the heart.” Eid is a great occasion to do this. Giving and getting gifts is a great way to increase brotherhood and love on this occasion. However, remember that gifts do not have to be very expensive always.

Arrange BBQ

The weather has been getting much warmer. Take advantage of this and have a barbecue in your backyard. Invite your neighbors, friends and other family members. Make it a memorable evening.

Eid talent show

Arrange an entertain evening this Eid where children and other members will get an opportunity to exhibit their talents with a view to lightening up everyone’s mood and creating lasting memories.

Finally, create some memories. While tangible gifts are important for kids and tiny tots, mature members tend to be fonder of creating memories. This Eid, find an activity that everyone will enjoy. It could be anything – right from arranging a boat ride to playing pass the parcel.
