For the last few days, we are experiencing scorching heat. Again, the price of essentials is going up and reaching an unbearable height. Both these two things have put our livelihood in jeopardy as we are finding it difficult to cope with. In this situation, you may be sweating profusely, meaning you are losing lots of fluid and liquid. So, a bowl of healthy soup can give you some relief in this scorching heatand fulfill the fluid necessity of your body.
Potato soup
Ingredients
- 3 cups peeled and cubed potatoes
- ½ cup chopped celery
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 cube chicken bouillon
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
- 1½ cups milk
- 1½ cups shredded American cheese
- 1 cup chopped ham
Directions
- In a large stock pot add potatoes, celery, onion, chicken bouillon, water and parsley flakes. Season with salt and pepper and simmer until vegetables become tender.
- In a separate bowl mix flour and milk. Once it is well blended, add to soup mixture and cook until soup becomes thick.
- Stir in cheese, cooked ham or hamburger and simmer until cheese is melted.
Potato and Cheese Soup
Ingredient
- 12 potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 2 pounds processed cheese food
- 1 pound chopped ham
- Ground black pepper to taste
- 3½ tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
Directions
- Place potatoes, onion, and cubed ham in large stockpot. Cover with water. Cook until potatoes are almost tender.
- Remove about one cup of the cooked potatoes and mash in a bowl with the back of a fork. Add some of the liquid from the pan (about a tablespoon at a time) along with the flour till you have a thick paste. Add this back to the pot.
- Place the cheese (either whole of cubed) in the pot. Let the soup simmer until the cheese melts and is thick. Add ground black pepper to taste and stir in the milk.
