Making The Most Of The Eid Day

For a good many Muslim people, Eid is simply a routine that never changes. They get up, pray Fajr prayer, eat breakfast, go to the Eidgha, come home, maybe eat and sleep. However, a day of festival should be a day of great joy and merriment and rejuvenate us. But if we cannot make this day special and joyous then it will not be a different day from the ordinary ones. This year, why not make your Eid the special holiday that it is? Here are some ideas of things you can do to get out of the usual routine and make Eid more fun:

Try to make the children happy

There is no denying the fact that Eid day is a day of joy for the Muslims of all ages. But children seem to be overjoyed and their hopes and joys know no bound on the day. But the responsibility to arrange the events for the children’s entertainment lies on the elder people. So if you spend your Eid in your village home, you along with your friends can set up different stalls from where the village children can buy toys on Eid day. Apart from that, in the afternoon you can take your children out to the nearby parks or some other places where Eid fair is arranged. On the Eid day, try to fulfill their little wishes, buy them some toys, balloons, food. So, try to make the children happy on Eid day.

Go to Eidgah to say your Eid prayer

To begin with, Eid prayer is one of the most important aspects of Eid day and you should prepare yourself for it in time. Take a bath early, wear your Eid dress, use (Ator) perfume, and attend the Eid prayer. Well, there are some people out there who miss Eid prayer just because of their procrastination. Never think of missing the prayer. So, get prepared early and encourage others also to do the same. At the Eidgah, after the prayer, embrace each other and great your friends and neighbors saying “Eid Mubarak” At the Eidgah where a lot of hugging goes on, you may find some Muslims or some unhappy poor children standing alone. Do hug and greet them too. If possible, invite them to your home for a meal. Adore the children and buy some food or toys to them. Trying to make someone smile on such a day of happiness will also make you happy and going to Eid prayer will be a nice experience for you.

Engage in activities and visit your relatives

This is Eid-ul-Azha when holy animals are sacrificed on the Eid day. After finishing Eid prayer, when your family members are busy with ‘Kurbani’ of the animals and distributing the meats among the relatives, neighbors and the poor people, you can give a helping hand in their activities which ,rather than being a laborious job, will give you a great pleasure. Besides, try to pay a visit to your neighbors and relatives living nearby on the Eid day. When you visit their homes, give relatives new clothes or sweets, and gifts to the children,

Arrange some special events

If you are spending your Eid day in your village this year and have many friends there, then you can arrange different events with them. In the early morning of the Eid day you can have a bath with all of your friends together in the same pond. That will certainly be a great fun for you. In the afternoon you can arrange football matches making groups or teams among the people like ‘village group’ and ‘town group’ or ‘married group’ and ‘unmarried group’ etc. Arranging or participating in such events on the Eid evening can be great a great source of joy and entertainment for you as well as other people.  On the Night of the Eid day, you along with your friends can arrange a stage drama or movie-watching on projector. These can be a great delight for you, your friends as well as your villagers. Well, it is mentionable that this type of arrangements may sometimes require a few days’ preparation.

Plan a food menu for Eid day in advance

Eid is all about food, merriment, charity and getting together but we cannot deny that food plays a vital role. If you would like to make the Eid a more fun then you have to plan a special food menu for the Eid day in advance close to home. If there are other family members to arrange food menu on the day, then bring some items according to your own choice to entertain your family members. After Eid prayers you could invite your relatives, friends, and your neighbors to dine with you, forgetting all the barriers and discriminations.

Spend Eid evening with family

Let the young teens prepare a few songs, poems, and other performances for Eid night family-entertainment. Make one of the teens in charge of this event. Help them avail the necessary equipments and establish criteria of Halal entertainment.
